Your Data

You have the right to access, download, and delete all data Bethelia holds about you.

What we store about you

  • Session history: Your emotion, what you're seeking, and anything you share in the "tell us more" step
  • Chat messages: The conversation you have with the AI companion during each session
  • Gratitude notes: What you write on the gratitude card at the end of a session
  • Reactions & feedback: Which cards you loved or skipped
  • Memory & relationship context: Distilled summaries, pinned memory notes, your matched angel, voice choice, and emotional trajectory used to make the experience feel continuous
  • Saved cards: Verses or content you've pinned or loved
  • Device identifier: A random ID stored in your browser that can link pre-sign-in sessions to your account after you sign in.

How long we keep it

We retain your data for as long as you use the app. If you delete your app data or request erasure, app-side personal information in our database is removed promptly. We do not keep a separate marketing archive of deleted records.

Raw chat history may also be pruned by routine cleanup after it has served continuity, while distilled summaries may remain until you delete your data.

Third parties who process your data

  • Anthropic (Claude): Your session context is sent to Claude to generate personalized spiritual responses. Anthropic does not use this to train models.
  • Groq: Used as a fallback AI provider. Subject to Groq's privacy policy.
  • OpenAI: Creates embeddings for scripture search, supports safety moderation, and may run private quality evaluations that store structured scores/redacted judgments rather than raw public content.
  • Cohere: Reranks scripture and story candidates so retrieval better fits your emotional and spiritual context.
  • ElevenLabs: Generates optional spoken audio when you use voice features or preview a voice.
  • Neon: Our PostgreSQL database provider. Data is stored in the US.
  • Vercel: Our hosting provider. Handles request routing and media delivery.
  • Upstash: May be used for rate limiting (short-lived technical data).
  • Clerk: Authentication provider (when you create an account). Manages login credentials.
  • Stripe: Processes voluntary donations and receipts. Bethelia never stores your full card number.

Checking your account...

Deleting app data here removes your Bethelia history from our database. Your sign-in account with Clerk may still exist — remove it from your profile if you want that gone too. For other requests, see our Privacy Policy.
